UBE inaugurates its Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Hub!

On Wednesday 2 July, Université Bourgogne Europe presented its new large-scale project dedicated to artificial intelligence, designed to strengthen its research activities and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. This innovative unit is based on a structured organisation and aims to meet the major scientific and societal challenges through the expertise of its teams.

Université Bourgogne Europe is officially announcing the creation of its Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Hub, a major initiative designed to federate and boost artificial intelligence research within the institution. Conceived as a strategic lever, the hub aims to structure skills and expertise in AI, encourage interdisciplinary synergies and boost the university’s scientific profile in this fast-growing field. The presentation was opened by Laurent Gautier, UBE vice-president in charge of research development.

An initiative to promote AI research

The result of collaborative work carried out between July 2024 and January 2025, the Interdisciplinary AI Hub brings together more than 250 researchers from the site’s 28 laboratories and is based on four major strategic areas that respond to today’s major societal challenges:

  • Intelligent transitions: integrating environmental and technological data for sustainable land management
  • One health: convergence of life sciences and AI for human, animal and plant health
  • Heritage and societal issues: linking human and social sciences with artificial intelligence
  • Knowledge of the future: theoretical development and innovation in AI technologies

Under the direction of Fabrice Meriaudeau, University Professor, and supported by Pierre Bordais, Senior Lecturer in Private Law and Criminal Sciences, the Interdisciplinary AI Hub is governed by a combination of scientific expertise, educational coordination and collaboration with regional and national socio-economic players.

In addition to structuring research, the Interdisciplinary IA Hub aims to organise regular scientific events and to develop ambitious collaborative projects in response to regional, national and European calls for projects (AAP, AMI, 3IA, IA Clusters, etc.).

Open to all scientific and industrial collaborations, this new his establishing itself as a key player in innovation in artificial intelligence, serving the social, environmental and technological challenges of the 21st century.
