FORTHEM Civic Engagement project : Queer Life

Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is organizing a project to explore questions of identity, gender, sexual orientation, and what are considered “social norms.”
They are looking for students who would like to help uncover the hidden stories of queer people in their region. The idea is to create and implement a workshop that raises public awareness about their lives and struggles, and to share these “untold” or “forgotten” stories.
The project will take place from October 2025 to April 2026 in a hybrid format, with online sessions and a workshop in Mainz from April 20 to 24, 2026.
Why participate?
=> To conduct research on the lives of queer people in your region and compare your findings internationally.
=> To design and implement a workshop, from concept to realization, and contribute to raising public awareness.
=> To gain or strengthen important skills in various fields, such as project management, research, communication, and presentation.
=> To participate in an important cause and receive a certificate acknowledging your work.
=> To meet and exchange ideas with international students while improving your English skills.
In order to attend the workshop in Mainz, you will receive a mobility grant.
If you are interested, you can apply until October 13
