2025 Secularism and Tolerance Day at UBE

On Thursday, October 16, for its second Secularism and Tolerance Day, Université Bourgogne Europe welcomed Alain Chouraqui, French researcher, Emeritus Director of Research at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Founding President of the Fondation du Camp des Milles – Mémoire et Éducation, and holder of the UNESCO Chair in “Citizenship Education, Human Sciences, and Convergence of Remembrance.”

He spoke at a conference on the theme of “Democracy and Tolerance.” He discussed the different ways in which history can alert democracy, through the courage of remembrance, scientific research approaches, and tools such as the Republican and Democratic Analysis and Alert Index (AARD).

The University warmly thanks Alain Chouraqui for speaking at our day dedicated to Secularism, Tolerance, and Democracy.
