Student Profile: Ali Chakkour, a Committed Voice for MUNISIT 2026

Just a few years into his university journey, Ali Chakkour already embodies a generation of engaged, curious students who are deeply connected to the world around them. A second-year undergraduate student in English-Russian Applied Foreign Languages at Université Bourgogne Europe, he recently represented his institution with distinction at MUNISIT 2026, a Model United Nations simulation organized by Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas on the ISIT campus.

A Realistic Diplomatic Immersion

As part of this experience, Ali Chakkour joined the UNESCO committee, representing the delegation of the Russian Federation. The discussions focused on the following topic: “Providing quality education for migrants while preserving their cultural identity.”

This issue, at the heart of today’s global challenges, led to in-depth exchanges requiring strong analytical, argumentative, and negotiation skills. The student advocated for an approach aimed at reconciling educational integration with respect for cultural identities, drawing in particular on initiatives developed by UNESCO’s Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE).

Speaking Up, Bringing People Together, Building Solutions

During the simulation, Ali stood out for his dedication and active participation in the committee’s work. His commitment was reflected in:

  • regular speeches during sessions, contributing to the progress of debates;
  • building alliances with several international delegations, including Spain, China, Armenia, and Kazakhstan;
  • co-authoring a Working Paper incorporating concrete proposals, particularly regarding the recognition of qualifications and skills of migrant teachers.

The quality of his involvement was praised by the committee chairs.

Key Support Along the Way

Behind this success also lies strong teamwork. Ali highlights the importance of the academic support he received at Université Bourgogne Europe and warmly thanks his professors: Christelle Chaussinand, Marie Villain, Will Noonan, Marie Pane-Noël, David Bousquet, Indiana Lods, and Laurent Gautier.

Their guidance enabled him to develop the skills needed to confidently engage with students from leading national institutions.

A Defining Experience

Taking part in MUNISIT 2026 was not just an academic exercise for Ali, but a truly formative human and intellectual experience. Between public speaking in assemblies, informal negotiations, and collaborative work, he established himself as a committed and promising participant.

Through his journey, Ali Chakkour perfectly illustrates the values upheld by Université Bourgogne Europe: international openness, academic excellence, and civic engagement.
