Florence Marty is UBE’s Le Creusot Campus’ new director

Since 1 June, Le Creusot campus of Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE) has a new director: Florence Marty, a Spanish lecturer at IUT Le Creusot. Elected unanimously at the campus council meeting on 21 May, she succeeds Séverine Marques, an English lecturer at the Condorcet University Centre. The tradition of alternating between the two institutions is thus upheld.

Originally from the south of France, Florence Marty first completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Spanish (LLCE: Languages, Literatures and Foreign Civilisations) in Montpellier. In 2010, she obtained her teaching qualification and completed her teaching assistantship at a secondary school in Béziers, before obtaining her first permanent post at IUT Le Creusot, in the Marketing Techniques (TC) department, as a Spanish teacher.

From her very first years at the IUT, Florence took on responsibilities, starting as Director of Studies for the GTTI professional bachelor’s degree, then as Director of Studies for the entire TC department. In 2015, she was elected head of department, before stepping down from this role in 2022 to become deputy director of the IUT, with her main responsibilities being international relations and communications.

What does she enjoy about her work? Interacting with students, of course, but also being able to launch new projects year after year. Among her flagship projects were the installation of screens and information points on Le Creusot campus, the creation of the cross-disciplinary ‘Circular Economy’ teaching module, and the associated FORTHEM mobility programme. Initiatives that were already having an impact across the entire campus!

As campus director, Florence will continue to focus on international relations and communication, but will also seek to continue the solidarity initiatives launched by previous directors and to set up new projects centred on the ecological transition. The issue of inclusion (precarious living conditions, people with disabilities, etc.) is also close to her heart. Her term as deputy director will end on 31 August.
