A partnership between Université Bourgogne Europe and EDF serving student solidarity
On Monday, March 30, Université Bourgogne Europe hosted a significant event in the office of its President, Vincent Thomas, marked by the official presentation of an €8,000 cheque as part of the EDF Solidarity Awards, along with the signing of a partnership agreement between UBE and EDF.
The event took place in the presence of Frédéric Marascia, Territorial Development Director for Burgundy at EDF, Laetitia Bergerot, EDF Solidarity Coordinator for Burgundy, and Vanessa Vaizant, Vice-President in charge of Disability, Solidarity and Inclusion at UBE.
Concrete support to tackle student energy poverty
Awarded as part of the EDF Solidarity Awards, this €8,000 grant supports a project led by UBE’s Student Solidarity Commission. The initiative aims to assist students facing energy poverty — a growing issue with direct consequences on their living conditions and academic success.
The project is based on a comprehensive approach combining awareness-raising on eco-friendly habits, personalized support for students identified as experiencing energy poverty, the distribution of energy vouchers for those facing the greatest financial difficulties, the organization of practical workshops, and the provision of equipment designed to reduce energy consumption.
A partnership agreement to build long-term action
The signing of the agreement between UBE and EDF strengthens this momentum by establishing a long-term collaboration. This partnership is built around a shared objective: reinforcing the fight against energy poverty by improving access to information, support schemes, and tailored assistance for the most vulnerable students.
EDF notably provides dedicated tools such as the PASS’EDF portal and brings its expertise to support social workers from the Student Solidarity Commission in addressing the situations encountered.
A collective commitment to equal opportunities
Through this initiative, Université Bourgogne Europe reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and the success of all students. This partnership also highlights the importance of collaboration between public institutions and socially committed companies to develop concrete, sustainable, and supportive solutions that closely meet students’ needs.
