Commission Solidarité Étudiante celebrates its 4th anniversary

On 25 June 2025, Commission Solidarité Étudiante (CSE) of Université Bourgogne Europe celebrated its 4th anniversary at the Maison des Sciences sociales et des Humanités in Dijon, in the presence of its partners and volunteers.

A total of 90 people took part in the 4th anniversary of CSE, whose mission is to combat student precariousness by responding to the growing need for support for students facing severe material and educational difficulties. The Commission mobilises a network of 170 committed people and centralises aid schemes at the Maison de l’Étudiant in Dijon.

Celebrating four years of student solidarity

The fourth anniversary of the CSE took place in the presence of 90 people, all mobilised to fight against student insecurity. By way of introduction, Laëtitia Martinez, Vice-President of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region, Antoine Hoareau, First Deputy Mayor of Dijon and Vincent Thomas, President of Université Bourgogne Europe congratulated the CSE on its 4th anniversary and its commitment to helping students in precarious situations.

’The CSE has its origins in a fierce determination to combat student insecurity.’

Vanessa Vaizant, Vice-President of UBE with responsibility for disability, inclusion and solidarity, then showed a video presentation of the Commission, followed by a review of the actions taken and the measures to help students succeed. She then gave the floor to the volunteers and her collaborators: Cathy Perret, Research Engineer and member of the IREDU laboratory, and Titouan presented the different actions they were implementing to collect donations.

The audience was able to meet Titouan, the youngest volunteer on the Commission Solidarité Étudiante, aged just 9. Pupil at Saint Ursule primary schools in Dijon, he came along to explain how he and his friends organise fund-raising events for beneficiaries.

This anniversary marked the official launch of the ‘Talents-Gagnants’ interprofessional integration platform. To mark the occasion, Vanessa Vaizant invited four ‘Success Stories’ from students supported by the Commission Solidarité Étudiante to take to the stage.

In September 2022, UBE opened France’s first student solidarity centre, located on the Dijon campus. This one-stop shop, staffed by two social workers, centralises all the assistance available and makes it easier for students in difficulty to maintain acceptable living conditions so that they can pursue their academic careers as smoothly as possible.

The centre offers ten types of practical assistance covering all aspects of student life: accommodation, food aid, administrative support, transport, digital equipment, a solidarity shop, finding a job to suit their studies, educational support with the ESPOIR Open Lab, health and cultural and sporting activities.

A collective, regional dynamic with a network of committed partners

The strength of the CSE lies in its network of more than 75 public and private partners, including the CROUS BFC, the CAF and the CPAM, as well as local authorities, companies involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and humanitarian associations (Secours populaire, Banque Alimentaire de Bourgogne, La Croix Rouge Française, les Restos du Coeur, etc.).

Three solidarity events a year bring together between 400 and 600 students and mobilise up to 160 volunteers, creating moments of sharing and conviviality that are essential in the fight against isolation.

The CSE also promotes active solidarity: the students it supports are encouraged to get involved as volunteers, in turn, with partner associations. This dynamic creates a virtuous circle of solidarity, commitment and recognition.

Building on its experience, the CSE model will be extended to other campuses and partner establishments of Université Bourgogne Europe. New innovative projects will be unveiled in front of the 70 partners present for the occasion, to strengthen the professional integration and social ties of the students supported.
