‘Dijon Bourgogne’ Week in Kumamoto, UBE is part of the Dijon delegation

As part of ‘Dijon Bourgogne’ Week, held from 22 to 29 October in Kumamoto, Japan, Université Bourgogne Europe is taking part in the Dijon delegation, which includes elected officials and local figures from higher education and research (ESR).

This event is part of the partnership established in 2023 between Dijon Métropole and the Japanese prefecture of Kumamoto and aims to encourage exchanges in various fields such as gastronomy and, more broadly, culinary culture, food and the agri-food industry, tourism, nature, environmental protection and sustainable development, as well as scientific research and higher education, in order to promote their mutual development.

UBE continues its international development

UBE is continuing its international development dynamic by participating in this delegation alongside local elected officials such as Lydie PFANDER-MENY, assistant to the mayor of Dijon in charge of international relations, and Denis HAMEAU, assistant to the mayor of Dijon in charge of higher education.

The Dijon ESR will be represented by various figures, including:

  • Vincent THOMAS, President of Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE)
  • Grégory WEGMANN, Vice-President for European and International Policy at UBE
  • Amel NAFTI, Vice-President for the Integration of UBE Member Institutions and Director of the École nationale supérieure d’art et design de Dijon (ENSAD)
  • Prof. Fabrice NEIERS, Senior Lecturer at UBE’s Faculty of Health Sciences and researcher at the ICB laboratory
  • Claudia SAMPEL, Director of International Relations at the Burgundy School of Business (BSB)

Signing of two new academic partnerships

Among the highlights of this trip, UBE will sign two new academic partnerships with Japanese universities:

  • The first will be with Kumamoto University.
  • The second will be a tripartite agreement between UBE, ENSAD Dijon and Sojo University.

In addition to signing these two academic partnerships, UBE will participate in several scientific and cultural events:

  • A manga competition
  • A gastronomic fair and exhibition
  • A conference on art and culture with ENSAD
  • A symposium on food with the participation of Fabrice NEIERS, also involving Vitagora and INRAE as well as Kyushu Bio Cluster (KBCC) and the National Agriculture and Food Research Organisation (NARO).
