International strategy

Internationalization of UBE

In order to respond to contemporary societal and territorial challenges, Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE) has defined its institutional strategy around four key disciplinary areas for research and training (Technological Transitions, Smart and Sustainable Materials / Earth, Environment, Food and Climate / Systemic and Integrated Approach to Health / Arts, Culture and Humanities in Society), and has established the following four multidisciplinary graduate schools to deliver short cross-disciplinary programs: Smart Transition, One Health, Tangible and Intangible Heritage, Creating Knowledge for Tomorrow’s Innovation.

Strongly committed to international cooperation with more than 350 partners around the world, UBE welcomes and sends thousands of students and staff each year on study, internship, training, teaching, and research exchanges. UBE also deploys an international research strategy thanks to the dynamism of its laboratories. Its range of graduate courses, linked to research activity, now includes 16 Master’s degrees taught entirely in English, as well as numerous double and triple degrees awarded jointly with foreign universities.

Since 2019, UBE has been a founding member of the FORTHEM European Alliance, alongside eight other universities. The aim is to build a truly European campus focused on innovation.

The goal is to build a truly European campus focused on educational and scientific innovation, while remaining rooted in regional realities and opening up to the extra-European dimension.

Université Bourgogne Europe has three strategic levers at the international level:

  • ensuring the sustainability and deployment of the FORTHEM European Alliance,
  • making the master’s-doctorate-post-doctorate level the core of UBE’s internationalisation,
  • forging privileged strategic partnerships in line with the University’s key disciplinary areas.
