Progress in the Shanghai ranking: UBE’s strategy of excellence recognised
Published on 15 August, the Shanghai ranking is one of the most important university rankings. Université Bourgogne Europe appears in it for the ninth consecutive year and has moved up two bands of 100 places in the global ranking (601-700), placing it 20th nationally. UBE is consolidating its status as a world-class university.
A major political confirmation
The 2025 ranking confirms the relevance of the political decision taken in 2022 to embark on an ambitious institutional transformation. This remarkable progress demonstrates that the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region has a world-class university that enables it to shine and be attractive on the national, European and international stages. The strategy supported by an entire community serves the region, with UBE at the forefront. The 2025 ranking reinforces UBE’s scientific positioning and attests to the considerable work carried out by a high-level academic community.
A strengthened collective dynamic
The alliance of new partners in the Experimental Public Institution created last January will enable each member institution (Burgundy School of Business, CESI, Centre Georges-François Leclerc, CHU Dijon Bourgogne, Crous BFC, École Nationale Supérieure d’Art et Design de Dijon, École supérieure de Musique BFC, ESAAB, Eseo, ESTP, Sciences Po Paris campus de Dijon) to take full advantage of the momentum generated by UBE’s influence.
This performance is supported by the national research organisations involved in the institution, namely the CNRS, INRAE, Inserm and CEA. It opens up new prospects within the framework of the strategy deployed by all UBE players.
World-renowned excellence
Specialising in analysing the research potential of institutions, the Shanghai ranking distinguishes 1,000 universities, including only 27 in France, among the 17,000 listed worldwide. UBE is thus among the top 5% of universities.
