UBE at COP BFC

On 26 May, the university, represented by Vincent Thomas, President of the UBE, and its Vice-President for Sustainable Development, François Weckerle, took part in the COP BFC at the parc des expositions of Dijon : François Rebsamen, Minister for Regional Planning and Decentralisation and President of the Dijon metropolitan area, Paul Mourier, Prefect of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, Marie-Guite Dufay, President of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regional council and Nathalie Koenders, Mayor of Dijon.

As part of an ecological planning approach, the COP BFC is contributing to the national effort to achieve the objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preserving biodiversity and adapting to climate change.

To achieve this, the specific characteristics of each region must be taken into account, and the actions to be implemented must be decided in consultation with local economic players, institutions and associations.

A wide range of issues were discussed, including school catering, energy renovation, industry and transport and mobility.

Valentin Skowronek, a member of the Green Office, a student structure that is the driving force behind sustainable actions at our university, spoke about the issue of student mobility and the actions supported by the region.

The regional COP listed 44 actions to be taken between now and 2030 to achieve the government’s objective of contributing 5% to the national effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
