UBE committed to biodiversity: first visit for the EcoJardin label

On 22 May, the Université Bourgogne Europe welcomed an auditor commissioned to obtain the
EcoJardin label. This first visit marks an important stage in the commitment to ecological and sustainable management of green spaces.

As part of its sustainable development policy, the UBE has embarked on a process to obtain the ÉcoJardin label, a national standard that recognises good practice in the ecological management of green spaces. This initiative is fully in line with the school’s sustainable development commitments.

On 22 May, the accredited auditor visited the campus sites, accompanied by the teams in charge of green spaces and representatives of our partners from CROUS BFC, the city and metropolis of Dijon, INRAE and Institut Agro Dijon. The meeting highlighted the quality of the work carried out on a daily basis by the technical staff and site managers. The auditor was able to observe the good practices in place on the Dijon Montmuzard campus: differentiated management, late mowing, promotion and inventory of local biodiversity and active involvement of the teams in the preservation of green spaces.

In addition to the technical criteria, the EcoJardin label also recognises the human and collaborative dimension of green space management. The UBE was able to present a number of collective initiatives: shared gardens run by the Campus Comestible association, awareness-raising events, and regular exchanges between technical services and campus users.

Continuing the collective momentum

This initial assessment is encouraging and confirms the relevance of the actions implemented over the last few years. It paves the way for a possible award of the label in the coming months. The university is thus affirming its commitment to the quality of the community’s living environment.
