Université Bourgogne Europe will host the 2nd edition of the Researchers Grand Prix FORTHEM

On 6 November 2025, Université Bourgogne Europe will have the pleasure and honour of hosting the second edition of the FORTHEM Researchers Grand Prix in Dijon, an international scientific event that highlights the talents of tomorrow. Organised as part of the FORTHEM Academy for early-career researchers, the competition aims to promote doctoral research on a European scale, while strengthening the links between science, society and citizenship.

A format inspired by popular science

Like the French-language Ma thèse en 180 secondes competition and the Norwegian Forskningsdagene festival, the FORTHEM Grand Prix offers an original and rewarding format: doctoral students from the nine partner universities of the FORTHEM alliance are invited to present their research work in a few minutes, in clear, accessible and captivating language. The aim? To make science lively, understandable and inspiring for everyone.

A springboard for young European researchers

This competition is much more than a simple communication exercise: it’s a real opportunity for young researchers to showcase their work, develop their skills in scientific mediation and make themselves known within an international academic network. It’s also a time for meeting, exchanging and sharing ideas across disciplines, cultures and audiences.

A 2025 edition hosted by Dijon

After a successful first edition in 2024 at the University of Agder (Norway), which brought together 11 doctoral students from six universities, Université Bourgogne Europe is proud to host this new edition. Last year, our institution shone thanks to Houda Rafi, a doctoral student in computer science in the IMVIA lab, who won first prize. Once again this year, we’ll be at the heart of the event, ready to help European research shine.

An event to follow in Europe

The Grand Prix will be open to everyone: students, staff, researchers, curious citizens… You are warmly invited to attend the presentations, meet the participants and discover exciting research projects from all over Europe. For those unable to attend, you can watch the competition live on FORTHEM’s Youtube channel.

An initiative to promote internationalisation
By hosting this event, Université Bourgogne Europe is reaffirming its commitment to scientific openness, European cooperation and the promotion of young talent. The Grand Prix is fully in line with the mission of the FORTHEM alliance: to build an inclusive, innovative academic space connected to the major issues of our time.
