Claude Gros has been awarded the ‘Established Researcher’ prize by the French Chemical Society, Coordination Chemistry Division
Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE, Faculty of Health Sciences) and researcher at the Institute of Molecular Chemistry at the University of Burgundy (ICMUB – UMR CNRS 6302), Claude Gros is the 2026 recipient of the ‘Established Researcher’ award from the Coordination Chemistry Division of Société Chimique de France (SCF).
An award recognising collective work

‘Established Researcher’ award from Société Chimique de France recognises the entirety of a researcher’s career in coordination chemistry. In 2026, this award was presented to Claude Gros, who thus becomes the third researcher from the UBE to be honoured by the Coordination Chemistry Division in nearly 50 years. With over 25 years of research devoted to the chemistry of coronols* and over 35 years to that of porphyrins*, Claude Gros has developed numerous international scientific collaborations throughout his career, notably with the United States, Canada, Norway and Hong Kong. His work has led to numerous exchanges with foreign researchers hosted in Dijon during international conferences organised at the UBE. For the researcher, however, this distinction goes beyond his individual career:
“Although this award is named after an individual, it recognises, above all, a team effort. It is a fine national recognition of the research carried out at the UBE and, more specifically, within the ICMUB.”
This recognition thus honours a scientific career characterised by the development of international collaborations, scientific output and commitment to the scientific community.
Société Chimique de France, a learned society dedicated to chemistry
Founded in 1857, Société Chimique de France is a learned society that brings together key figures in the field of chemistry and helps to promote the discipline, its scientific advances and its applications. In particular, it brings together researchers, academic researchers, engineers, technicians and students, and is organised into scientific divisions and regional sections. Through this honour, the SCF thus recognises Claude Gros’s contribution to coordination chemistry and, more broadly, highlights the dynamism of the research carried out at the ICMUB.
