Welcoming international students for the 2025-2026 academic year

At the start of each academic year, Université Bourgogne Europe welcomes more than 1,000 new students from all over the world, representing nearly 120 nationalities. This diversity reflects the institution’s commitment to the internationalisation of higher education.

Every year, UBE welcomes international students from all over the world, either through agreements with our partner universities or on an individual basis with the aim of obtaining a degree. For those who wish to learn French or improve their command of the language, the International Centre for French Studies (CIEF) offers intensive courses throughout the year.

In addition, the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy is actively committed to inclusion by supporting migrant students who wish to resume their studies. In particular, it offers them the opportunity to enrol in the Passerelle – Students in Exile university diploma (DU), a programme designed to facilitate their integration into higher education.

UBE has more than 3,400 international students, with the following countries being the most represented:

  • Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Spain and Russia for Europe;
  • China, Lebanon, Vietnam, Iran and Pakistan for Asia;
  • Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Congo and Tunisia for Africa;
  • Mexico, Haiti, Colombia, Brazil and the United States for the American continent.

Special welcome days

Every year, UBE organises Welcome Days for international students who are coming to study in France for the first time, in order to assist them with administrative procedures and facilitate their integration.

The International Relations department offers a programme throughout the month of September:

  • Administrative registration desks reserved specifically for international students;
  • Several information stands during administrative registration (Smerra, student associations);
  • Distribution of a welcome gift with useful brochures;
  • Online information meetings in French and English with a specific Q&A session;
  • Guided tours of the campus in French and English;
  • The International Campus event as part of Campus Days, where students can participate in intercultural workshops, win prizes in quizzes hosted by CROUS, learn about mobility opportunities, etc.
  • The welcome evening at the atheneum, which is the highlight of the Welcome Days as it is a unique opportunity to meet other students in a friendly atmosphere, taste local specialities and enjoy a dance show.

Newly arrived international students are also invited to the welcome ceremony organised at the beginning of each semester by the City of Dijon. They can also participate in numerous integration events organised by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) InsiDijon student association throughout the academic year.
